Noovoleum is on a mission to transform one of Indonesia’s biggest environmental challenges — used cooking oil (UCO) waste — into a clean energy opportunity. Despite Indonesia producing 900,000 tons of UCO annually, most of it is still dumped or burned. Noovoleum built a solution that makes recycling easier through smart UCO collection points, technology integration, and community incentives
Challenge
While Noovoleum had built a scalable, tech-enabled network of UCO collection points, they hit a wall when it came to logistics execution. They explored using on-demand courier services like GrabExpress or GoSend, but quickly found those platforms couldn't meet their operational complexity.
Here’s why:
- Customized SOPs were non-negotiable: Riders needed to handle, pour, and operate the UCO collection machines — not just drop off a box. This required SOP training, consistent execution, and safe handling, which on-demand platforms couldn’t enforce.
- No way to integrate custom identifiers or logic: Noovoleum's system uses customer-specific QR codes to track which jerry can belongs to which person — so users can be credited correctly. But GrabExpress and GoSend don’t allow driver app integrations to support that flow.
- Rejection of non-standard items: UCO is heavy, messy, and doesn’t come in neat packaging. On-demand drivers frequently reject pickup requests due to unfamiliar item types — making the entire recovery network unreliable.
To scale across cities, Noovoleum needed fleet-level control, system integration, and trained riders — something only Dash could deliver.
Results
Partnering with Dash enabled Noovoleum to scale its mission — not just in size, but in operational precision.
In just 6 months, Noovoleum:
- Collected 30+ tons of used cooking oil — with zero missed pickups
- Expanded into 5 cities: Jakarta, Tangerang, Bekasi, Bandung, and Bali
- Fully integrated Dash into their app workflows — including QR-based customer tracking and real-time pickup triggering
- Deployed a trained fleet that follows custom SOPs for safe pouring and machine operation
- Enabled precise customer crediting through secure jerry can ID matching
- Eliminated failed pickups due to driver rejection — a major issue with generic 3PLs
